The White Queen is a character in Tim Burton’s 2010 dark fantasy film, Alice in Wonderland, which is based on the Lewis Carroll books Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass. On Alice’s adventures she meets up with an array of unique and fun characters including the Mad Hatter, Cheshire Cat, The Tweedles, the White Rabbit, The Red Queen, and her younger sister, The White Queen to name a few. The White Queen is kind and well tempered unlike her evil sister, the Red Queen. The White Queen, Mirana of Marmoreal, is the rightful Queen of Underland but her sister took the throne for her own years ago.

The White Queen is quite the opposite of her older sister, The Red Queen, in Alice in Wonderland.

Dressing as the White Queen from Alice in Wonderland is fairly easy with the right items and a little time

Costume designer, Colleen Atwood, along with makeup artist, Valli O’Reilly, and head of the hair department, Terry Baliel, are responsible for the strikingly beautiful and feminine look of the White Queen who is played by actress Anne Hathaway

To create the White Queen costume you’ll need to start with a white Victorian style long dress with a nice fitted waist and full skirt and a pair of vintage looking high heeled lace up booties.

Next, find a white lace and pearl choker necklace and earrings and possibly a bracelet to match.

White Queen Makeup and Wig

White Queen Makeup

The pale skin is a must for your costume so find a good quality stage paint or a full coverage white powder for your exposed skin. Face, chest, hands and arms if you choose a short-sleeved dress. You can skip this step if you already have the porcelain like, nearly pure white skin of the character. A thin layer of black mascara and an extra thin layer of  brow color along with a faint pink cheek color and a deep red lipstick will be the only other makeup needed. Add fingernail polish or press on nails to match the lipstick.

Likely your hair will not be the color or length needed so the easiest and most accurate option will be purchasing a long creamy white wig that is curled and styled to resemble the character.

The final touch will be a sparkling rhinestone crown.
