We’re all aware of the tall, mysterious antagonist of Final Fantasy VII, Sephiroth, and now it’s time to make the best cosplay of him and show it off. The darker half and mortal enemy of Cloud Strife has met his match. Let’s create Sephiroth Final Fantasy Costume.
The Origins of Sephiroth
Sephiroth was actually born out of strange circumstances. Born to professor Hojo and Lucrecia Crescent, they were assistants to the scientist Professor Gast on the Jenova Project.
Jenova was mistaken for an ancient people known as the Cetra, who had the ability to talk to the planet. So, Professor Hojo injected some of Jenova’s cells into the pregnant Lucrecia, who experienced difficult symptoms as a result such as fainting and frequent pains, as well as visions of her son committing horrible atrocities.
Once the baby was born he was immediately taken away by the scientists and raised as a soldier due to his incredible physical prowess.
A Fateful Encounter and Rivalry
Later in life, he came across Zack and the protagonist, Cloud Strife, working together to investigate the outbreaks at Nielbelheim and uncovering some unfortunate truths about his past that were hidden from him as he grew. Never once being told who his real parents were, Sephiroth was under the impression that he was Jenova’s child and after finding out the truth, it breaks him. Setting the town ablaze and attacking all that interfered, Cloud eventually puts a stop to Sephiroth’s rampage and thus, marks the start of their rivalry.
Creating the Sephiroth Final Fantasy Costume
So how do we replicate this bad boy’s look? With a long black coat falling at about shin level with straps that hold the coat together with silver buckles. Be sure to add silver cuffs and big, light grey shoulder pads that rest on the shoulders. Black straps should cross at the chest region and slip on some black pants to poke out just beneath. Put on a pair of black, calf-level boots and black leather gloves. Then add a pair of black wings and place a long, straight, silver wig on top of your head. Last but certainly not least, grab your long katana and you’re all set to rock this edgy antagonist.
The Designer Behind the Look
So who do we have to thank for the creation of this edgy bad boy’s look? Tetsuya Nomura, the character designer for Final Fantasy VII, which was his first role as a character designer, talks about talent! So wreak havoc out there in your Sephiroth Final Fantasy Costumey!
