Five Nights at Freddy’s was a hit since the moment it came out with the original but the second game also performed incredibly well and the series continues to do so even today. A notable character from the second game is Mangle, the only animatronic that no longer has its own body but rather, a combination of different parts, closely resembling Foxy from the first game.

But how did it come to that point?

Mangle was originally a replacement for Foxy since the original animatronic was seen as “too scary” and thus, the company (or rather, William Afton) created Mangle in hopes of fixing this issue.

However, due to its popularity, smaller children would constantly rip the animatronic apart, leaving employees to do the dirty work and piece it all back together again. It was a classic Humpty Dumpty story repeated quite a few times until eventually, the staff became tired of repeating the same process over and over again.

This was where the nickname “Mangle” or “The Mangle” was born due to its consistent need for assembly.

Mangle was then turned into a take-apart and rebuild attraction as a result and this made it easier for employees. In hindsight, it was just an excuse to allow employees to neglect to put Mangle back together the way that they were originally supposed to.

Clearly, this isn’t as straightforward as most other costumes so it’s important to get a little creative with this one. Not to mention, Mangle doesn’t exactly have a regular body but with some quick thinking and accessories, that shouldn’t be a problem.

Mangle Five Nights at Freddy’s Costume Tutorial

Start with a light gray bodysuit, this is the closest to Mangle’s skeleton that we often see exposed in the game due to children’s insistence on tearing the animatronic apart.

Afterward, slide a pink skirt over top, with straps not only around the shoulders but around the stomach as well, and zip it up from the back. This adds the illusion of the skeleton that we’re shooting for. A pair of pink and black boots strung up completely and a few accessories should cover the last finishing touches.

Add pink and white fox ears, a pink and white bowtie, and cuffs with diamond studs to give the costume a little flair. Lastly, a little pink lipstick and of course, a long, curly pink wig to really emphasize Mangle’s pink aesthetic.
