Daryl Dixon is one of the most beloved characters The Walking Dead. Portrayed by Norman Reedus, he has a very easily recognizable style. He’s a hothead with a difficult personality. However, he manages to contain himself and cooperate quickly with the rest of the group.

His weapon of choice, a hunting crossbow which he handles to perfection, makes him an excellent killer: he is precise, and silent and his arrows are reusable in a world where ammunition is a rare commodity. It’s fair to say, he’s one of the coolest characters on the show

So what do you need in order to recreate his look?

How do you create Daryl Dixon’s outfit?

Costume designer Eulyn Womble created his characteristic outfit, adding that “you know who he is just from looking at him,” which is very accurate when it comes to such a reserved character like Daryl.

To dress like Daryl, you will need a black shirt and unassuming chino pants, paired with a good pair of brown boots. Follow it up with the iconic angel wings vest worn by Daryl during most of the first season, as well as a black bandana. Finally, the magic touch comes with the crossbow, Daryl’s weapon of choice. Be careful not to hurt yourself… or the people around you! 

In order to add more realism and better get into character, you can add a few knives to your costume. Get a knife holster and hide a rubber knife inside it, and don’t hesitate to pull it out at core moments to scare your friends to bits! 

To finalize the costume, don’t hesitate to put on a wig to replicate Daryl’s signature shaggy brown hair. You can also choose to create a fake beard on your face, or paint fake wounds all over your body, as Daryl is known to get banged up a lot. Standard life during the zombie apocalypse!
