The Sonic games are a childhood favorite to any child’s active imagination and any adult’s nostalgic memories. Where there have been plenty, there have also been plenty of amazing characters with personalities that are hard to forget. Amy Rose, the pink hedgehog wielding a hammer bigger than her, is one of those souls. Excited to spread the love in an Amy Rose cosplay?
Let’s meet Amy before we move on to the costume
Amy is actually her nickname, for starters, her real name happens to be Amelia Rose the Hedgehog but she’s commonly referred to as Amy Rose. Princess Amelia Rose the Hedgehog, to be exact. She was originally in Sonic the Hedgehog CD and has since appeared in plenty of games.
From the start, Amy’s personality has heavily revolved around her romantic interest in Sonic, often shown trying to win his heart by any means while swinging her melee weapon the Piko Piko Hammer.
However, recently she’s had a little more than her hopeless crush added to her personality that’s fleshed her out a little more, or at the very least, made her seem a little more mature, especially in the recent game, Sonic Frontiers.
In earlier games, Amy was often referred to as a “tomboy” but later on, her interests were far more “girly” than how she started. As time went on, her character began to change.

Speaking of change, let’s jump to the cosplay
- Starting easy with a nice white, long-sleeved, button-up shirt with silver buttons
- and a short-sleeved, short-cut red dress to throw over the top.
- Slip on a few gold bracelets to jazz up your costume,
- and slide on some red boots with a little heel. Make sure you’re used to walking around in heels or this will be quite the learning experience on top of sporting a great cosplay.
- Lest we forget every Sonic character’s white gloves,
- and the Sonic’s hammer,
- and slide on a red headband to complete the whole look.
- Feel free to add ears pink headband and to dye your hair pink to really sell the look and tada, all done!
