This 2003 movie made an impact on many people as children but did you know it was originally a book? It’s based on the book with the same title, Holes, and stars Shia LaBeouf. Becoming Stanley Yelnats IV is a very simple task that holds a lot of nostalgia. Ready to dig up the best for this cosplay?

Who is Stanley from Holes

Stanley was an average teenager that was walking home one day when a pair of shoes flew off of a bridge and hit him over the hit and effectively knocking him to the ground. Stanley, who is actually the fourth Stanley in his family, coincidentally came home to his father trying to develop a foot odor repellent after taking the shoes that he found. Unknown to him, the shoes were donated to the children’s orphanage by the baseball player Clyde “Sweet Feet” Livingston. Later, the police caught Stanley after they believed he stole the shoes and sentenced him to eighteen months at Camp Green Lake. 

Camp Green Lake is, in contrast to the name, a barren land with no water for at least a hundred miles. He meets his roommates, Armpit, Squid, Magnet, X-Ray, Zigzag, and Zero, all of which (minus Zero) tease and harass him for a while until an incident involving the camp’s resident bully makes the aforementioned group gives him the name “Caveman”, making Stanley one of them. Now that he’s made connections at camp, Stanley is less worried about his time there and writes letters to his mother to keep her from worrying about him. Zero, who later reveals himself to be Hector Zeroni, asks Stanley to teach him to read. This leads to Stanley and Hector becoming very close friends throughout the rest of the movie.

How to create Stanley’s costume

Now the outfit for Stanley is actually pretty easy since the most notable outfit that he’s seen throughout the movie is his uniform. Make sure to throw on :

• a white shirt with short sleeves first
• and then an orange jumpsuit adorned with pockets
• and of course, Stanley’s famous red baseball cap. All throughout the movie, Stanley keeps the same baseball cap on without fail, signifying its importance to him.
• Add a pair of black work shoes and a shovel and you’re already almost finished with the cosplay.
• All that’s left is the infamous toy lizard that’s spoken about throughout the movie and you’re all set.
