Becoming an Outlaw: The original Red Dead Redemption was already loved by plenty of fans and in media history, it’s rare that the sequel ever does just as good as the original but this may have been an exception. In 2018, Red Dead Redemption 2 was released and the game did not disappoint, breathing new life into an older video game. The protagonist, Arthur Morgan, came with his fair share of flaws but the Outlaw grew on everyone by the end. Ready to steal this outlaw’s look?

Who is Arthur Morgan?

Before we move on to the cosplay, let’s find out more about the character and take a look at where it came from, first.

Arthur was born in 1863 to his parents Beatrice and Lyle Morgan. Beatrice died of unknown causes but Lyle was a petty criminal that was later arrested for larceny and killed, witnessed by an eleven-year-old Arthur at the time. Arthur was then raised by Dutch Van Der Linde and Hosea Matthews, teaching him how to read, write, hunt, fight, etc. in order to survive and become the first protege and founding member of the Van der Linde gang. Eventually, Arthur has become a valuable member of the gang and rose in the favor of Dutch.

The game actually starts with the gang fleeing Blackwater after a heist gone wrong, hastily trying to gather supplies and seek shelter for the sake of the rest of the gang but the harsh weather makes the circumstances even worse. They stop to ask for help only to run into O’Driscoll Boys, which leads to an all-out gunfight between the two gangs. The rest of the chapter starts their pursuit of getting away to safety.

How to create Arthur Morgan’s outfit

• Start with a long-sleeved blue pin-striped shirt, rolled up to the elbows with the first few white buttons unbuttoned.
• Slip on some brown canvas pants with a belt and gold, cowboy gun buckle belt on the front.
• A pair of striped, black, and tan suspenders should go on overtop.

Arthur has an interesting outfit but it isn’t as nerdy as it appears thus far.

• Add a black scarf to wrap around your neck and a black grizzly hat to sit atop your head.
• A toy pistol to rest at your hip
• and last but certainly not least, don’t forget about the brown cowboy boots.

The character artist Luke Starkie made an otherwise nerdy outfit actually look cool in the context of the time period and on a Cowboy, which definitely probably helps his awkward fashion sense.
